THE KAMA GOLF MATERIALS GUIDE
50/50 merino wool & acrylic
Two fibres. One easy favourite.
A 50/50 blend of fine merino wool and premium acrylic gives everyday golf headwear its balance of natural comfort and practical resilience.
Shop this technologyWhat the blend brings
Merino contributes softness, moisture buffering and natural odour resistance. Acrylic complements the wool in a knit made for repeated wear. KAMA uses this Schoeller yarn in familiar styles including A196, A188 and AW74, as well as selected knitwear and accessories.
Fine merino, chlorine-free processing
The wool fibres measure 20.5 microns, placing them in the fine merino category. Schoeller’s EXP process treats washable wool without chlorine. Gentle washing still matters: follow the garment label, use an appropriate detergent and dry the piece flat.
Know what the marks cover
KAMA specifies bluesign® APPROVED Schoeller yarn for the relevant models. Its yarn information also describes ORGANICA® traceability and additional standards including EU Ecolabel and OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100. These relate to the specified yarn and supply chain; they do not automatically certify every lining, membrane or finished garment.
Made to be worn and cared for
A smooth, soft blend can be an excellent everyday choice, but no knit is immune to friction or wear. Avoid rubbing it against hook-and-loop fasteners, reshape after washing and give it time to air. Those small habits help preserve its feel and appearance.
Is a 50/50 merino beanie waterproof?
The yarn blend alone is not waterproof. A protective membrane is a separate component. AW74 adds windproof WINDSTOPPER protection, while the waterproof AG11 and AG12 use a different, 100% merino outer with GORE-TEX.
