THE KAMA GOLF MATERIALS GUIDE
GORE-TEX®
Play through the forecast.
Waterproof, windproof and breathable GORE-TEX protection sits at the heart of our AG11 and AG12 beanies. Natural merino comfort outside. A considered weather barrier within.
Shop this technologyThe membrane makes the difference
A protective membrane sits between the outer knit and inner lining. Its structure stops liquid water while allowing moisture vapour to pass through. That is how a soft knitted beanie can offer waterproof protection for a wet round without relying on the wool itself to keep rain out.
A closer look at the technology
KAMA’s material information describes the microporous ePTFE membrane traditionally used in GORE-TEX. Its very small pores act as a barrier to liquid water while allowing water vapour to move through. Gore now offers several membrane technologies; we do not assume that a newer membrane formulation is used in these particular KAMA models.
Small pores. A useful difference
KAMA’s explanation of its ePTFE technology describes around 1.3 billion pores per square centimetre: approximately 20,000 times smaller than a water droplet, yet 700 times larger than a water-vapour molecule. These comparisons explain that membrane structure, rather than every modern GORE-TEX formulation. The useful result for your beanie is a barrier to rain with a route for moisture vapour to escape.
Three components working together
AG11 and AG12 combine a 100% merino outer yarn, a GORE-TEX membrane and a Polycolon lining. Merino provides natural warmth and comfort. The membrane supplies weather protection. The hydrophobic inner lining helps move moisture away from the skin as you walk the course.
What it feels like on the course
Windproofing helps reduce wind chill on exposed tees. Breathability allows moisture vapour to escape, although comfort still depends on the weather, effort and fit. A slight rustling noise from the membrane is normal. Follow the KAMA care label rather than applying generic jacket treatments to a knitted beanie.
What is the difference between GORE-TEX and WINDSTOPPER?
AG11 and AG12 use waterproof GORE-TEX construction. The WINDSTOPPER styles in this collection prioritise wind protection and breathability; they are not sold as fully waterproof. Choose by the product’s stated protection and the forecast.

GORE-TEX® membrane
The protective membrane keeps liquid water and wind out while allowing moisture vapour to pass through. This is the waterproof heart of the construction.
