EXP wool treatment
Washable wool. A different process.
EXP is Schoeller’s chlorine-free wool treatment, designed to make wool easier to care for while avoiding conventional chlorine processing.
Shop this technologyWhy wool treatment matters
Wool fibres have a scaled surface. Heat, moisture and agitation can cause them to felt and shrink. A washable-wool treatment helps manage that tendency, but it does not remove the need for a gentle wash or make every complete garment suitable for a machine.
Chlorine-free innovation
Schoeller introduced EXP, short for EX-Pollution, as a chlorine-free route to washable wool yarn. KAMA uses Schoeller yarns in its knitted collection. The treatment belongs to the wool-processing stage; it is separate from the fleece lining or weather membrane inside a beanie.
Care that fits your piece
Read the label first. Where permitted, use a wool programme at no more than 30°C, a wool detergent and a low spin. Avoid fabric softener, sudden temperature changes and wringing. Reshape gently and dry flat away from direct heat.
Can every EXP-treated KAMA piece go in the washing machine?
Not automatically. EXP concerns the yarn. The finished piece may include other components with their own care requirements. Follow the individual garment label.
